Time flies...Wells is a month old!

Someone told me that time flies when you get out of college and then it goes faster when you get married and then it just disappears when you have children. You can look back and literally not know where time went. It is oh so true! I love watching my little precious Wells grow and get bigger and stronger, but it goes so fast! Just a month ago, he came into this world screaming and crying, with everything being new to him. Now, he is getting so big and changing everyday.

A few milestones from the last month:
April 23rd - birth (7 lbs, 4 oz. - 21 inches long - 7:48pm)
April 25th - came home and met his furry brother Jack
April 26th - first doctors apt. and first lunch out (CPK of course!)
April 29th - first church service
May 2nd - his first long walk to Southport for coffee
May 5th - met his Pa (my dad) 
May 10th - rolled over for the first time (my little overachiever!)
May 17th - sleeping in the crib
May 24th - 1 month check up (8 lbs. 15 oz. - 22.5 inches long)

My little cross eyed cutie! Don't worry, all babies go cross-eyed for the first few months :)

My dad had major surgery and wasn't able to get to Chicago when he was first born, so we met up with him while he was at the airport during a layover 2 weeks after he was born. Here he is with my parents.

With his Nana whom he adores spending Thursdays with and is such a God-send to me to have her! Thanks Nana!

Meet our Precious baby boy Joseph Weldon Piercy, Jr., aka Wells!

Sorry, a bit MIA for the past few weeks, but it is for good reason. God blessed us with our beautiful and perfect baby boy on April 23rd and life has been a little different ever since. I know those of you who are not on Facebook have been bugging me to get these up, so here goes :)

On Sunday, April 22nd, Joe and I were finishing a piece of furniture for our guest room/Meg's office (which I will show you soon) and then we decided to order Thai food. We knew that the hot food thing bringing labor on was a wives tale, but when you are 38 weeks, you will try anything to meet your little baby! So...I ordered the hottest thing on the menu. I could hardly get down half of the food without feeling like we might need to call the fire department. I drank more water in that hour than ever before! However, an hour later, when I got into bed, my water broke!!! Wives tale or not, worked for me. Wells was like, help! get me outta here!

So then I called my midwife and she told me that I could wait at home for at most 12 hours and get a good night sleep and then to come in the morning. Yea right, like I could sleep knowing I could meet my little boy the next day! She also said that because my water broke at home I was more susceptible to infection so he had to be born within 24 hours.

We got to Northwestern Prentice Hospital at 8 am the next morning and by 11 I was enduced. I was hoping to try to go natural, but if anyone has had Petocin cranked to 20, they know how painful it was! Epidural please!

They checked my dilation at 2pm and I was only a 1.5, so disappointing. They said that he wouldn't come until really late that night with how slowly I was progressing. With a few prayers and a wonderful nurse, I was dilated to a 10 plus 2 just 4 hours later! The midwife couldn't believe it!

Sidenote: 1. My mom arrived 20 minutes before I started pushing. Thank you Lord for your always perfect timing. 2. Joe had gone with my mom and his dad to dinner downstairs thinking Wells wouldn't come for several hours. He barely got his food before he was called back up!

So Joe is back now and the midwife said to expect to push for at least 1-2 hours. 15 minutes of pushing later, Wells came into the world. Praise the Lord for only pushing for 15 minutes. God, you are so faithful and so good! The midwife said she had never really laughed during a delivery, but that Joe made her laugh with how excited he was. She said usually husbands are nervous, going to pass out or trying to remember everything from Lamaze. Joe was just so excited to meet the guy and wore a smile as wide as the Great Wall of China on his face. So funny and so predictable if you know him.

It was inexplainable the feeling of holding my baby boy for the first time. It is such a miracle that God can create a beautifully, perfectly made human. He was perfectly healthy and just beautiful...beautiful! You pray and pray for a healthy delivery and healthy baby boy and when it all comes to fruition, you just can't hold back the emotion. Exhaustion goes away and you are just filled with joy. Truly the most amazing day of my life!
